Hello,

it is me, I live in Essen, Germany.

About 580.000 people live in Essen, different sources speak from the 7th, 8th or 9th biggest city in Germany. I am not sure who is right :) It is a beautiful city full of industry and also lots of beautiful nature, full of culture, different people and life.

Essen is a town in the area called "Ruhrgebiet" (Ruhr area, because of the river Ruhr), next to Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund,... This area was famous for coal and steel production in the past. More than 5 million people live in this area.

Essen and the Ruhr area were one of the European Capitals of Culture 2010 and our old coal mine "Zollverein" is an UNESCO world heritage since 2001.

I love my friends, animals, nature, listening to music, reading, writing, watching stupid stuff on TV, cars, creativity, learning something new and much more. I am also very interested in all cultures and traditions, religions (I am christian, but very openminded), politics, economy and philosophy.

And last but not least I really like the idea of sending and receiving postcards from all over the world :)

I like many kinds of postcards, maybe you would like to check my favourites to see what I like. I also like nice cityviews and the typical touristic cards from your town/country :) I don´t like cards in envelopes, I love them written and stamped :)
