About Laura...

Hi!

I have sent and received smiles through the mail for years, so Postcrossing is a JOY! I have thousands of cards, but perhaps my "best" postcard story is that I became engaged via postcard. It was hand-delivered, written in Czech (which I couldn't read!) so I had to wait for the English translation of the proposal. We had a beach wedding in 2011. :)

I enjoy sending cards as much as receiving them, and try to select a card that will delight the recipient. I recently traveled to Orlando for a postcard show and met other postcrossers. Great fun! And now I have two boxes of cards to choose from!

Life isn't all about postcards... :) My avatar shows an octopus exploring my hand while I was scuba diving--another passion of mine. I'm a divemaster and am certified to assist disabled scubadivers, but I dive for fun too. I also enjoy yoga, motorcycles, animals (we have a Rottweiler and 3 chubby black cats), vegetarian cooking, the beach, foreign languages, reading, music, and bicycling. In my spare time, I'm a hospice volunteer, a member of Impact 100, and support the federal Re-entry Court. (Perhaps it's no surprise that I have no TV--there's no time!)

I enjoy travel, having visited over half the U.S. states and Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Scotland, Ecuador, Honduras, Peru, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Palau, and many Caribbean nations. :)

What people write on the cards is often what makes them so special, so please don't be shy! Tell me about what makes you happy, share a secret or a favorite quote, or write a greeting in your native language. Is your country on the list of places I've been? If not, tell me why it should be!

I'd be delighted if you write in español, français, Deutsch, česky or esperanto. Practicing my language skills via Postcrossing has been awesome :)

What to send? Please send a postcard that you find interesting, beautiful or unusual...whether something cultural, eclectic photography, or anything else. For a more specific idea, I love cards with:

Holiday theme
women, especially brides or in traditional dress
fruits and vegetables
musical instruments
typical things unique to your country
mail boxes
artistic black and white photos
motorcycles
maps
chocolate or other candy
lots of bright colors
LGBTQ theme
Krtek or other cute/funny cards
Hearts
Art Unlimited or Nouvelle image cards

I prefer real stamps and no envelope. :)

happy (feliz, joyeux, gluckliche, st'astny, felica) Postcrossing!
:)
Laura

p.s. I don't have a scanner or home computer, so senders and receivers, please help with uploads, if possible! The pictures I take with my phone are not as nice! Thank you! :)

pps. Did you receive a postcard without an ID? Postcrossing can help! Go to "register a postcard" page and follow the instructions on the upper right. It works !
