About Laura...

**Please note that I moved in early August, so if you sent me a postcard that hasn't arrived yet, it may just be taking a little longer, as it will get forwarded to my new address.**

I'm a thirty-something freelance writer and love writing letters the old-fashioned way. I'm an art lover, wordsmith, runner, factory tour enthusiast, and Anglophile. I've lived in Chicago for five years, and have previously lived in Indianapolis, Indiana; Worcester, Massachusetts; Oxford, England; and Dallas, Texas.

I especially love postcards that are ugly, offbeat, silly, or otherwise bizarre, like decades-old blurry cityscapes and other unusual scenes. (I can't explain why, I just love them. They are the postcards that nobody wants.) Though of course I'd love a beautiful shot of your city, too, or whatever else you fancy sending. I don't collect stamps but do really enjoy seeing interesting stamps from other countries. (I've especially enjoyed the Finnish stamps I've received!)

Other postcard subjects I love
- castles
- children's book illustrations
- vintage or vintage reproductions
- interesting architecture (old and new)
- an unusual animal native to your country
- maps
- if you live in the United States, I love lettered postcards like this: http://bit.ly/aAxevU

If you speak a language other than English, I would love to see a sentence or two in your native language!

Also, if you enjoy decorating envelopes, creating mail art, using stickers, etc., please feel free to do so, as I love getting fun mail!

I've recently begun the enormous task of scanning my (non-Postcrossing) postcard collection, which you can find here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lmbrowning/sets/72157623647894918/

Thanks for writing -- I can't wait to hear from you!
