About Dmitry...

Hi!

I'm 30 years old, work as a computer software and website developer. I like the open source systems and everything about it. I enjoy seeing handwritten mail from all over the world in my mailbox, that's why I'm on Postcrossing.

I'm originally from Russia, moved to Australia some time ago. You may write your postcard in Russian if you'd like to.

I like to travel and see new places, by car or by bicycle. I spent some of my vacations riding in European countries: Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Czech and Lithuania.

Every country looks much different when you're on bicycle rather than in the car or tourist bus. You don't miss those little bits that make the image and somehow you live the life of locals, not just watch them. And yet you move fast enough to see many places. Czech is my love for cycling.

About the postcards...

I prefer POST cards, NOT GREETING cards unless that's for a reason. The difference between two is that postcards are designed for being mailed and greeting cards are not. For example, most foldable cards are not postcards and neither is a random picture with a stamp attached to its back. I don't mind ad- or freecards if they're good.

Below are the 'rare' topics for the cards I'd like to receive. If You don't have one, no worries, look below for a list of "normal" postcard topics.

- Covered bridges
- Recipe cards
- Lenticular cards
- Skydivers and skydiving, paragliders;
- Northern or Southern lights;
- Ratatouille cartoon;
- Airplanes and aviation, spacecraft;
- Trains and railroad;
- Cards related to hiking and camping;
- Bicycles;
- Cards with the picture or scheme of the mountains, with names and altitudes of peaks;
- Сards showing a ski resort and a plan of its skiing tracks;
- If there is a special national holiday in your country these days, please send me a greeting card for it;
- Birthday card for my birthday (15'th of September).

My "normal" favourite topics for the postcards are:

- U. S. states. Me and my wife want to collect cards for all the states. So far we don't have: Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming;
- A postcard showing something special about your place or country, its history, your national food, language, traditions, clothes, architecture;
- A card from a place near you which is worth visiting;
- Funny or unusual card as they'er cool;
- Map cards, I like'em very much;
- City night views;
- Moomins;
- ...and cats :) Yep, I like those cute little tigers.

You can also have a look at my favourites, any card like these would be great.

It would be nice if you write something about a place where you live, about people, what do you think of them, whether you like your place, or not, and so on. But of course it is absolutely up to you what to write.
