About Chris...

Hello!
My name is Chris & I joined Postcrossing to make new friends "one postcard at a time". I take any opportunity I can to make the world feel a little "smaller" and more hospitable.
My favorite hobby (other than Postcrossing) is genealogy. My husband and I have each traced our family lines back many generations.
I live in the USA & in 2015, we moved back to Oxford, Ohio - where I completed my undergraduate education at Miami University many years ago. We really like the pace of the town & the educational opportunities that living in a college town has to offer.
My husband and I just LOVE traveling. We've been to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and France. We've also traveled to many states in the USA. We enjoy seeing new places, and we love enlarging our worldview by meeting new people.
I took an early retirement in Sep 2013 - a big change for me, as I had spent the last 30 years working long days in a variety of professional jobs, most recently as a project manager. Prior to that, I was a social worker for over 12 years - first in a nursing home, then in an alcoholism council, & finally in a hospital. Instead of being "bored", I have truly learned to relish my new life. I am spending it doing some very personally rewarding volunteer and I am writing again (poetry, memoir, a bit of fiction). I am a Docent at our university's art museum. My husband & I have love to go on photography trips together. I consider this time a gift & plan not to waste it!
Speaking of "presents", in May of 2015, I received the gift of life. After minimal symptoms, I had to go through quadruple heart bypass surgery. Congestive Heart Failure & kidney problems ensued, but I plan to recover & live my life well and fully.
I'd love to receive ANY kind of postcard. But, if you run out of ideas, here are a few of the things I like:
_ Photography (particularly black & white with a pop of color)
- UNESCO World Heritage Sites, museums, or interesting architecture in your country
- Pictures of owls, hummingbirds, elephants, hedgehogs, or cats
- Pictures of people in traditional costumes for your country
- Birthday cards in late February or March
- Valentine cards in late January or February
- St. Patrick's Day cards in March
- Easter Cards in April
I'd love to hear how you spend your time &/or what you value most in your life. I would also be interested in your favorite quote or your motto about life. If you can't think of anything else, why not tell me what song I should listen to or what book I should read if this were my last day on earth?!
I promise to register any postcards I receive immediately. I take this hobby seriously, and I want to treat others the way in which I would like to be treated.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Chris

PLEASE NOTE: When I mark a card as a "favorite", it is one that I've already received
