About Elaine...

Hello,

I am a 57-year-young married woman, who enjoys creating art using multi-media. I love rock music, gardening, reading, watching movies & TV shows, and stamp collecting. I also have a new hobby: letterboxing (see www.atlasquest.com).

The latest musical artists I've been enjoying are Arcade Fire and Apocalyptica*. David Bowie is THE all-time musician love of my life!

I enjoy good fiction books - and movies like LOTR (Lord of the Rings), Blade Runner, Lathe of Heaven (the one with Bruce Davidson), Harry Potter, etc., and I have to include Star Wars just because it's classic.

I would love to receive postcards from anyone, anywhere! I can read some French and a little German (very rusty). I especially like postcards of artwork (funny or serious) or with an interesting or challenging picture. I enjoy whimsical or fantasy-type postcards. If you are artistic, I'd love a handmade card. I love close-ups of eyes (people or animals). Cards in envelopes are great, but not if they cost a lot extra!

I appreciate cool stamps, too. (Postcrossers in Finland have some 3-D knock-your-socks-off stamps!) Thank you to my Postcrossing friend Jill in Australia for sending me the "Legends" stamps (the 2009 series included Russel Crowe, Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman, and Cate Blanchett).

But I love all sorts of surprises; and truly, receiving a postcrossing card from you is "priceless"! Thank you to all my Postcrossing friends who send such wonderful cards & stamps!

Please tell me a little bit about yourself or about the postcard you're sending. Whatever your faith or belief, I wish you a Merry Christmas or happy tidings of the season! Can't wait to hear from you!

*Thank you very much to BannyBrazil and Willi of Germany who both sent me wonderful information and translations on the song lyrics for the group Apocalyptica's awesome German version of David Bowie's song "Heroes" called "Helden." Thanks to Jana for telling me about Mia's version of "Helden" too.

Remember: "We can be heroes, just for one day!"
