I started postcrossing with my daughter last year, and decided it was time to let her have her own account (the original one, Bug-A-Boo) - even though I am the one monitoring and mailing cards on it for her. (In other words, my little 6 year old "Bug" is getting very possessive about getting "her" mail, which is odd because she's usually so good with sharing!)

This way, too, our interests are now separate. I prefer ad-cards and map cards, and especially recipe cards; she likes anything and everything. The one thing I do request, though, is that you write an interesting bit of information about your town/city/country or customs - especially your favorite holiday customs and traditions. If you can't think of anything, a favorite recipe would be great, too.

By the way - if anyone is interested in a regular correspondence (a postcard pen pal?), please let me know. I've taken to scanning all my outgoing cards as a way of keeping a journal; I've tried keeping a standard one, but I feel silly writing to myself. Maybe if someone else has this problem, we can help each other :)
