About Joao...

I´m a Brazilian citizen, born in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal. I emigrated to Brazil in 1963 and have lived for almost thirty years in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Nowadays I live in the city of Curitiba, Parana State.
I enjoy hearing about other places and people, their customs, traditions and so on.
I´m a retired general accountant and I collect stamps and other philatelic pieces, such as Maximum Cards (a card with a stamp on the face of the image, cancelled. The card, the stamp and the cancel should have the same theme. It´s allowed that the cancel may be one with the date, only the local of the post of office shown on it must be the one of the image the postcard shows.) Seeking adequate postcards to prepare Maximum Cards has developed my interest for postcard collecting.
I enjoy cards which depict fauna - owls are my favorite bird - flora, sea views, lighthouses, windmills, among others. But I will be happy to receive any card about any theme that the sender thinks it´s interesting.
I would prefer the cards to be sent in a cover (enveloped), since I collect stamps from all over the world, and it´s not possible to take them of the card without ruining it. However, if the cost of the mailing by cover is found to be excessive, please send the card stamped directly, without a cover.

EXPIRED CARD, RECEIVED AFTER MORE THAN 365 DAYS.
I have included the following text in my profile, because on August,17, 2012, I´ve received a card, ID DE-91922, sent by Jessica, from Dusseldorf, Germany. I wasn´t able to find it on the Postcrossing register and, after requesting help, was informed that the card was sent more than a year before the date I´ve received it, and as such has been deleted from the Postcrossing files. But I would like Jessica to know that I´ve received her card and liked it, so, if somebody reading this is able to contact her, I would be very grateful if this notice is given to her.
