About Cal...

UPDATE - December 2021: I've been away from Postcrossing for many years but decided to start participating again for one very important reason. The world is a crazy place these days, but I remember the wonderful feeling of connecting with one random stranger at a time through postcards. Every time I receive a postcard, it makes the world a bit smaller and happier!
___________________________________________

I'm a 58-year-old female who lives on the East coast of the U.S.A. in Rhode Island (the smallest U.S. state). I can enjoy the ocean, the woods, and the city all within an hour's drive from my home!

I've always loved sending and receiving mail. Growing up I always had pen pals from the U.S. and foreign countries. While I eventually lost touch with most of them, I do still have two pen pals who I've been writing to for more than 40 years each! I love to write letters (and other things) and one of my favorite hobbies is designing and creating greeting cards using rubber stamps and sending mail art! It's so exciting to go to your mailbox and find some personal mail (other than bills and junk mail). I love it when I receive a decorated letter or unexpected note or postcard.

Another passion of mine is traveling! I have been fortunate to visit Venice, London, Paris, Bangkok, Singapore, Burma, Iceland, Prague, Vienna, Budapest and several other places. I've also traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada and have so many more places I'd love to visit. I'm grateful to be able to experience other cultures, meet new people, and explore historic sites.

I gladly welcome any type of postcard you wish to send! I especially love anything representing traveling or mail (stamps, postmarks, passport stamps, vintage travel images, famous landmarks). And handmade or hand decorated/rubber stamped cards are cool too!

Several times over the past few years, I've had exhibits at my local library showcasing many of the wonderful postcards (and other mail art) I've received over the years! I tell everyone about this great website and hope to encourage new members to join!

I look forward to receiving postcards from around the world and sending them out to others. Thank you for this opportunity! -CAL
