I am a retired English/mathematics teacher, traveler and explorer of parts unknown. I live in the city of Miami in the warm, tropical part of the state of Florida. Chess, sailing and scuba diving have always been some of my favorite pastimes along with my old motorcycle and Jeep. A good game of billiards has frequently been a reason to relax with friends or a good way to make new ones. Speedy (Jack Russell terrier) is often my traveling companion - a kindred spirit when we can get away to look for ghost towns, alligators or good hiking trails that may lead to treasure!!!
(2014') was a New Mexico USA adventure - GREAT!!! Last year (2015')- 3 weeks exploring in the eastern (maritime) provinces of Canada: New Brunswick, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and parts of Nova Scotia: wonderful!! This year (2016'), we were off to Montana, Western Canada and the Pacific Coast: (Washington state: home) of the USA!!! If you had asked, you might have gotten a postcard from one of these wonderful parts of North America.
Summer 2017...we went back to the American West of cowboys and Indians, wild horses and great vistas and people....If you can travel in the USA, make it to So. Colorado and New Mexico....it will be an adventure you won't soon forget.!!! This is the "real" USA.......
Fall/2018 ... back to New Mexico, Southern Colorado and Eastern Arizona with the cowboys, cactus, native tribes and history, red/green chillis that make their dishes so special... ghost towns, Billy the Kid, Coronado Trail, 2 rodeos ... Albuquerque Balloon Festival (largest in the world)...dozens and dozens of huge, colorful balloons drifting all about ... like clouds ... take a look via Internet ... next year ... maybe Antarctica!!
2019' .. haven't gotten to Antarctica yet, but did get to wander much of Florida and see places I hadn't seen in years. Northern part of the state is much different than the tropical flora/fauna/people/cultures found down in the southern end... amazes me how people in one part of a state, region, country don't really know much about the opposite side.
(Fall/2020') .... Out to Oregon, USA for a wedding. Mountains, great ever-green forests, followed the Mighty Columbia River from Idaho (state) out to the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful scenery was marred by smoke, haze, embers from all the fires that had broken out. Road trip took us over 2,000 miles;
Christmas holiday (2021') - off to wander Central Florida for 10 days. Too hard to fly, so we'll jump in the Jeep and go looking for museums, antique shops, beach bars and all the small towns with their treasures we've missed over the years in past adventures.
Fall (2022) ... Montana, Montana; beautiful western (state)!! Mountains,
fly fishing rivers, great forests .. 2 weeks of adventure!
Spring (2023) ... back to great New Mexico ...cold,windy ..love it!!!
Christmas (2023) .. up to North Florida/Flagler Beach .. cold, windy .. lots of kids surfing .. barbeques and horse country too ... great!!!
