About Laui...
A hint about what kind of cards I like (these are not solid rules):
- single view
- art (portraits, surrealistic, impressionist, Art Nouveau)
- architecture (e.g. Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Hundertwasser, modern)
- Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) (e.g. Gustave Eiffel, Gaudí, Mucha)
- photography (e.g. Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Henri Cartier Bresson)
- wildlife (e.g. Africa's Big Five, but any wildlife picture will do, even close ups from insects)
- farm animals
- horses (e.g. working horses, purebred Arabs)
- humor (e.g. Suicide Bunnies)
- literature/books (I read a lot and mostly literature, anything except Dutch classics, they've ruined that in school)
- doors, gates, locks and keys
I'm a stamp collector (for fun, I'm not an utter freak about it) and I'd appreciate it if you'd put a real stamp on the card instead of a 'postage paid' sticker. And if you can, as many stamps as will fit would be very cool. I would love to receive a card with only stamps + the address on the back =D
UPDATE: I've received five (!) cards filled entirely with stamps. Coming from the US (31 stamps, stamped twice), France (7 stamps, stamped ten times), Macedonia (5 stamps, stamped twice), Canada (18 stamps, stamped 14 times) and Finland (11 stamps, not stamped).
It's brilliant to see the difference in handling. The US card got stamped twice, not nearly covering all the stamps. The French got mad and stamped the entire surface, including the address :D. Macedonian postal services kept it nice and tidy: stamping the card only twice, getting all stamps. The Canadians went all frantic again and set a new record: 14 individual hits (covering all stamps, but not covering the entire card). Finnish postal services really couldn't care less, they just didn't bother at all and didn't stamp the card at all, which is another record =D.
I'd love to see what your post office can do!
Feel free to write to me in any of the languages listed above. I might not write to you in those languages, but that is because understanding is easier than speaking (and speaking is easier than writing). And my grammatical skills on any language but English and Dutch are really bad! Also: feel free to correct me if I mess up, I take any opportunity to learn ;-)
I actually joined postcrossing when I was looking for pen pals. If you want to exchange letters, please drop me a note. Note that I'm in no way a collector of cards and I'm not looking for swaps!
Lastly: thank you very much for taking the time, trouble and expense to send me a card. It's always nice to discover what the mailman left in my mailbox today!
