About Sadie...

Hey, All,
I'm Sadie and live in lovely, rainy PDX, OR, US. I love post cartes, especially, mostly, the odd, quirky, kitschy, and whimsical. I think of p.c.'s as little pieces of art. The idea of receiving them from around the world, and seeing what others love about their cultures, jazzes me up! I'm really interested in culture, less in scenic landscapes.

Update: Autumn 2021--Things have changed radically in my country. Many long-ignored social ills are now being revealed. For some, denial persists. For others, we take this as a call to action. I'm interested in changing the world for better.

I think I'm in the minority: scenic or landmark postcards I find very ordinary and dull.

What do you find artistically beautiful? Eye-catching? I have collected p.c.'s for years and now am thrilled to have found Postcrossing to share them!

We all share in the quotidian. I'm most interested in what you find inspiring. Won't you please consider sending a line of a favorite poem or from a meaningful quote or even something that is secret/important/special/ or just all about you?

I would love, no FLOVE, to connect with peeps from South America and the Middle East.

I live here with my wife and our twin sons. I work at a library, love to read, am an avid cyclist, am crazy about languages and music. I speak French passably and so wished I had a better facility with Spanish. Comprendo mas que puedo hablar! :D I'm a foodie as well as semi-vegan. I'm down with connecting with progressive, intellectually curious, and open people. I have lived in France, about a million years ago, and hope to travel to Iceland, Costa Rica, Japan, and Scotland in the sometime future! Extra points for anyone who would dig discussing politics, food security, environmentalism, literature, and all things kitschy. What are you reading right now? Who are some of your favorite authors? I'm also a MOT (member of the tribe). Would love to connect with other MOTs! Happy Trails, Everyone!

***PS IF you've read this far:

What is your country's question?

There's an idea that each county has a question that reflects its (dominant) culture. For example:

Switzerland: What canton are you from?
England: Where did you go to school/university?
France: Where is your summer home/where do you vacation each year?
US: What do you do for a living?

(Sad but true: You will be asked this within five mins of meeting an American. It would be considered rude to ask this in other cultures. No so much in the US)

What is your country's question? :)

If you are cool and anything I've shared clicks, I'm open to texting too. :)
