About rubbpunzel...

Art Saves Lives.

I live in an intentional community in Seattle, a city in Washington state in the United States. Americans sometimes call the region "The Pacific Northwest." Seattle is a seaport in Puget Sound. Famous companies around here include MicroSoft, Nintendo, Google, Amazon, Starbucks and Boeing.

I send postcards because making art is a meditation, a spiritual practice for me; however getting cards is also fun. I have been a mail artist for decades. I believe mail art is as much a communication as written text, but I am loving what we write to each other on postcards, it opens hearts.

I carve printing blocks and stamps and use lots of vintage rubber stamps and found objects collage for mail art. I am most likely to send out cards that are one-of-a-kind and somehow incongruous or quirky (check out my sent postcard wall to see), I try to incorporate your tastes; however, if your profile asks for a traditional travel/scenery card, I will try and scrounge one up for you. My apologies if you don't like what I send you: I always try, and none of us can guess for sure what will be enjoyed.

What postcards do I like to receive? Postcards are a gift. Anything is good, but I have some preferences if you're curious. I like colorful or handmade or art cards instead of local viewcards or skylines or maps. Think of the opposite of what most postcrossers want and that's probably me, so send your unloved cards to me and I will give them love. I'm interested in anything that is beautiful, funny, unusual or interesting to you.

I like when you take time to write on the card. I enjoy hearing about you or where you live. What are you excited or happy about? What is going on in your world today? What matters to you? What do *you* love about where you live? Do you have a secret dream, big or small? Do you have an unusual hobby (besides postcrossing)? Whatever you would like to share.

I also like seeing postage stamps from around the world. I sometimes send postcards out with strange and vintage combinations of USA postage stamps, or which show pictures that match *your* interests, or that match the theme of the postcard. You might like the stamps I send you more than the card itself. Lately I have been using the USA international circular stamps, I think they are pretty and unusual.

If you send a handmade art card, if it has a clear and legible return address, it's possible I will send you art in return! I enjoy mail-art dialogues and receiving watercolors and doodles. Direct swaps from USA mail artists VERY MUCH DESIRED.

English is easiest for me, but I have friends who speak German (Deutsch) and Spanish (Yo estudio Español) and I like the puzzle of working out languages with google translator.

Big thanks to all of you that make my studio wall beautiful with your cards. THANK YOU!
