About ravenbat...

I am a woman and almost totally housebound due to a health condition. I'm able to get out more when the weather is good (as in when there isn't a lot of snow), but tend to stay close to home.

I live in the northern part of the lower peninsula of the State of Michigan; it's a beautiful area.

One of my favorite things to do is reading. I read more of the urban fantasy or paranormal type books more than anything else, but I do enjoy a good suspense book or some sci-fi/fantasy. I don't watch much television, but do enjoy movies - mostly comedies though I have a love for old black and white movies. Especially old Cary Grant movies.

Music is another of my favorite things, I like just about most genres of music; with a few exceptions. I'm just as apt to be listening to some old Big Band artist as I am to something that is popular now.

Other things that I like are butterflies, cats, bats (yes, the winged mammal), penguins, sunrise/sunset photos, full moons, interesting looking buildings, bridges, teacups/teapots, brush painting/artwork, recipes, baby animals and flowers.

I would love postcards of places where you are from, but I'll happily accept any card you send. It's the thought after all. Postcards and stamps from any Olympic games and the mascots for the games are greatly appreciate. I've also discovered the Moomin since joining Postcrossing and those cards and stamps will be happily welcomed too. I'd rather not receive ad cards, but if that's all you have... send it on.

If you are at a loss for what to write on the postcard you can always ...
Tell me about your day
What it's like in the place you live
If you have pets
Share a recipe
Tell me a joke
What music, movies or books that you enjoy
Tell me how you discovered Postcrossing

I am happily owned by Ellie, the most beautiful dark gray cat with white markings in the world. I adopted her in 2015 and haven't regretted it once.

I prefer my cards written on and stamped, not in an envelope. Even if the post office manages to mangle them a bit, I think it adds character to the cards.

I register my cards the day I receive them, without fail. Though note: my regular postal carrier has recently quit and until they find a permanent replacement my mail is being delivered by temporary carriers. Unfortunately it has resulted in days where I have received no mail at all or my mail being delivered to the wrong house. If you have sent me a postcard and I haven't registered it within 30 days of it being sent, please leave me a message.
