About PoCo...

The award-winning PoCo Muse, or the Porter County Museum, located in Valparaiso, Indiana, is the area’s oldest institution devoted to the history, art, and culture of Porter County.

In May 2023, the PoCo Muse opened an exhibit called, "Ever Yours: Postcards from the Golden Age," featuring over 200 early twentieth-century postcards from the museum collection. The exhibit explores how these deeply personal, beautiful, and accessible historical documents reflect the social fascinations of the time. The history of their production, circulation, and collection during the Golden Age of their popularity (1907-1915) foreshadows the social networks of our present moment. "Ever Yours" closes at the PoCo Muse on January 7, 2024. If the exhibit is displayed elsewhere after it closes at the PoCo Muse, we will be sure to mention it here. Meanwhile if you would like to see and read more about the exhibit check out Issue 6 of out PoCo Muse Magazine which is available digitally for free on the PoCo Muse website. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5b86d68f96d45533d3b02f2e/t/64f66dd093210c76025f989b/1693871580419/No.6%28Magazine%29DIGITAL.pdf

In the place of "Ever Yours" in the Montague Urshell Gallery will be an exhibit featuring the photography of Herb Barghusen and poems of Robert Longoni called "The Path That Ventures Within: Inspirations Found Along Indiana Dunes Trails," opening January 13, 2024.

We love to learn more about other cultures, so please feel free to tell us anything about the history, art, and customs of your home. Any interesting facts about postcards would be welcome, too!

Ever yours,

PoCo Muse
