I am from Kolkata, a city on the Eastern coast of India. It's a very busy city. Chaos and harmony rather goes hand in hand over here. It's pretty humid around here for most part of the year. There are several places of interest in the city. My favourite is the ‘ghats’; the banks of the river Hooghly that flows through the city and falls into the Bay of Bengal. I love watching the river flowing by, below the majestic Howrah Bridge that adorns my city.
I love collecting stamps and post cards, most importantly I love writing letters. Guess it's a passé today, but a friend introduced me to post crossing and I'm loving every bit of it. I love reading books. Voracious reader; mostly love reading thrillers. I equally love watching movies; mostly psychological and mystery thrillers. Love anime as well as cartoons. I prefer watching ninja and samurai based ones. Would love to travel the world someday; especially visit Japan to attend the Sakura blooming festival and try the authentic Japanese ramen! I love listening to music too and yes, when no one’s around, I love to sing. Indie folk, alternative rock, hard rock, nu metal, post rock are some of my favourite genres. I’ve never seen an international band perform live. I’d love to have that experience someday; especially bands like Alter Bridge, Pearl Jam and several others. Movies, books and anime can have me speaking for hours together. My friends say that my eyes light up when I start talking about them.
A small hill station, Darjeeling, adorns the northern border of my state, which allows the closest view of the mighty Kangchenjunga ranges. I have always been fond of travelling and hill stations have been my favourite places to unwind. Other than the chilly winds, I love staring at the snow-capped peaks of the mountains changing colours with the mood of the day. I love animals but being a non-vegetarian kind of puts me in a tight spot. I’m pretty fond of cats and dogs.
I love the idea of learning a new language and would like to learn a few may be other than the regional languages that I’m fluent in. I’ve the habit of collecting quotes, mostly lines from movies or songs or from books that I’ve read. The quotes are usually on ideas of love, friendship, nature and yes, people!
Postcrossing is such a beautiful experience I must say. Honestly, it has been helping me to go through a difficult phase of my life. It has been so therapeutic. It always lights me up when I find the postcards from people who give me a glimpse into their lives. It makes me want to try harder, put more effort into everything I do.
