About Kate...

Hi everybody,

I am really happy to have stumbled upon the post crossing website while reading a book about the history of the potato. There was a chapter relating to Tristan da Cunha and when I looked up information on the Internet, I came across the post crossing website. That got me thinking back to the days before email when I used to write and receive letters and postcards. Recently I was having a clearout and reread all of my old letters I had kept. There were letters from my grandma who died a few years ago 2 days before her 99th birthday. She was very frail and had dementia. It was lovely to come across letters she sent me years before when I was at college in her beautiful handwriting, telling me news of her day, that she was just about to put a pie in the oven for tea, and go and get my uncle from his workshop at the bottom of the garden. I realised its not very often I receive handwritten letters or postcards. That is why I am so excited to join everybody here and find out firsthand about different countries and cultures.

I live in Liverpool in the North West of England. I am married with two children. I love walking, rummaging round car boot sales and second hand bookshops (when I get the chance), gardening, reading, old films, yin yoga, spending time on my allotment, sewing and embroidery, crochet and knitting. I am currently studying to take some horticulture exams with a view to a change in career having previously worked as an occupational therapist. Finding out about people and their stories really interests me so I am looking forward to hearing your news!
