About Irene...

My name is Irene Pella.

This is a picture of myself with my 2nd cousin 2x Chris at her wedding. I have lived the majority of my life in Johnson County, Nebraska. When I was quite a bit younger, the man I was seeing was stationed for the war effort in Oklahoma, I promised my folks I would only be down there a few days and then I would come home. My future husband said to me, I really wish you wouldn't leave and I said "Well, I wouldn't have to, if we were married..." So we got married and we lived in Oklahoma for a bit. Our honeymoon was in Florida. Florida was really beautiful. But in my day, you didn't really travel and have vacations as people do nowadays.

I love genealogy: my maiden name is Lempka and my grandparents came from Smicz, (which is now Poland). I also enjoy hearing tidbits of other places and visiting with my family. I used to have a very large garden, but now only have a few houses plants. I have lived a very good life and I am thankful for what god has given me.

Now, I live with my daughter Susie. We both enjoy trying the teas of the world, reading the postcards and exchanging the letters. I don't often write replies now, though, I do dictate the replies to my daughter. We would be interested in hearing about where you are from and we think it is exciting to get frequent postcards in the mail. :)

The cards are send in care of ie c/o of Chris, and I am Irene's second cousin 2x (or two family generations removed). We met each other through my ancestry research of my Grandmas maiden name Lempke(a). I wanted to share this postcrossing adventure with Irene. I register them and then pass them onto Irene. She is like myself in the future. She is not only my cousin, but one of my best friends :)

Irene's birthday is in August. Susie's birthday is in May. Chris's birthday is in February.
If possible, please write about a local recipe, local legend or myth!

We enjoy getting such beautiful stamps :) Home made cards are beautiful :)

If you need ideas, I love to hear about the weather, your hobby, favorite food to eat, about your cat or other pet, tea (tea exchanges welcome), if I were to visit your city/town, what food should I try? What place should I be sure not to miss? Or write and translate a recipe! :)
