About Mary...

What a truly delightful idea this website has turned out to be! Some tidbits about myself: My name is Mary & I love anything having to do with travel & paper...hence Postcrossing combines my two favorite things. I am always daydreaming about far away exotic places that I would love to someday see. Traveling has been part of my life since I was very little & I can't seem to get it out of my system. I would love to live in Europe at some point in my life as that is where my journey first began. I am completely enchanted by culture, art & history. I consider myself a citizen of the world. I have been called an “old soul” by many & adore philosophies, effects, conceptions of intrinsic worth which seem to be slowly vanishing & are considered to be “old-fashioned” or “outdated”.

As far as my postcard preference are concerned, most of all, I am just really excited to get any postcard you send me. Please do try to be a bit creative. If you don’t know what to write, here are some possibilities: (1) Your Life motto, (2) Recommendations of what I should visit, eat, drink & buy as a souvenir in your country if I were to come as a tourist (3) A personal message from your heart. But for those of you who have the time & resources, here is a list of what I enjoy most (please keep in mind that these are just thoughts & not demands): Any architectural structures from the area the postcard is from or images of women in art. I adore pretty or unusual stamps. It would be nice if you wrote the date on your card too. If you are an artist & would not mind creating handmade postcards, feel free to send me your work, I would greatly appreciate it! If you could send me your postcard in the envelope along with the smallest coin or smallest paper currency or former ticket like train/bus or movie from your country, it would make me very happy & I would no doubt return the gesture. For anyone who speaks French, please feel free to write your message in French. I thank you graciously

It's so very sad if a postcard that I send doesn't get to you or is not registered. It's like sending children into the wilderness; I want them to arrive safely! The postcards I send out are like little pieces of me traveling all over the world. If any card is longer than 60 days please message me & I will do my best to resolve the situation. There is just one thing that saddens me, not too many people want to stay in touch. We simply exchange postcards & that’s it. Don’t be afraid to continue corresponding or exchanging postcards again in the future. This site has made it possible for us to connect. And for this I am truly grateful!!!!
