I live in the north of South Africa, in Polokwane, with my husband and 4 cats. I am a retired teacher. Our 6 children are all grown-up and have their own lives. We have 4 grandchildren.

I am a portrait artist and only works in pastels, pencil or charcoal. My art can be seen on Facebook at "Laurita Art". I love visiting art galleries.

Other hobbies are Artists' books (books made by artists), pop-up books, interior design and reading. I often visit our city library.

I also enjoy crochet and knitting and will often create my own designs. I am also learning to hand embroider.

My latest passion is gardening. There are so many weird and wonderful plants. My house plant collection grew from no plants, to a collection that includes plants from all over the world. Weeding is very good exercise!

South Africa is a beautiful country with a variety of animals and plants. And no, we do not live in huts and have lions walking in the streets! Wild animals are found in the many game reserves. KFC and McDonald's are everywhere!

My favourite holiday destination is Cape Town, with its many beaches, art and interesting people from all over the world.
