Hello friends and friends to be -

My name is Mark and I work as an administrator for the Kentucky Comunity and Technical College System in the U.S. I live in Louisville, Kentucky, which is home to the Kentucky Derby - - - a prominent national horse race and sporting event. Kentucky is a very rural state with farms of all types and is particularly known for horses and horse racing, tobacco production, and bourbon whiskey distillation.

Like many of you, I enjoy armchair traveling and do much of that by reading. I enjoy history of all sorts, all origins. I particularly enjoy reading travel writing - -something in which the writer is directly experiencing and engaging with place and not just summarizing sights and amenities. I also enjoy reading detective and crime fiction, some fantasy, and I appreciate quality children's literature the older I get too.:-)

I am partially handicapped with limited mobility, so PostCrossings seems like a good way to reach across the world and bypass some of the obstacles I might have otherwise. Many places I would love to visit - - Mousehole in Cornwall England, Istanbul, the Adriatic, Granada in Spain, Samarkand in Uzbekistan, Mt. Kilamanjaro in Tanzania, Goa in India, Chongqing, and UNESCO World Heritage sites everywhere. And that is only the tip. I don't want to be a stranger to any country.

I also enjoy playing with my dog, a black Labrador retriever, writing letters (and postcards) and listening to music. I look forward to hearing from you.
