*note* Just wanted to make sure that people know about 2 special USA stamps which may not look special at first! (1) The black circle Total Solar Eclipse stamp (USA) is heat sensitive! If you touch the black circle with warm hands, then the moon will appear. (But if it's already hot all the time where you live, or summertime, then you might have to put the stamp/card into a cool place, like the refrigerator, to turn black again before you can try it out! It's a little sad to hear that people have received this stamp but had no idea that it was special in this way! ALSO (2) the small "frozen treats" / popsicle stamps are scented! They are "scratch and sniff" and if you scratch them and smell, then they have a fruit scent. Hopefully the fragrance survives the travel. :-)
Hello! I am an old goth, gen-X chiropractor in San Francisco and enjoy all things postal. I enjoy going to film festivals, opera and traveling alone or with my son and/or my boyfriend. :-) I live part-time in Sacramento, too, now that I've bought a little house there. (SF is too expensive for middle-class people to buy a home.) On my SF days, I try to go the beach in the morning before work to start the day on a good note. Pictures of my beach mornings are on my Instagram: _kimakoi_
My FAVORITE things to read about on postcards are people's spooky stories! Ghost stories, angels and demons, strange happenings or experiences, UFO, Mothman, etc. :-D Even atheists can have funny weird stories... like finding the face of Elvis on a potato chip??
If you can't think of anything, draw a little picture of yourself (even a stick figure!) - even if you are a horrible artist... these little pictures make me laugh.
Some favorite postcard themes:
* strange, oddball things
* spooky things
* vintage, historical
* deities from all traditions, "good" or "bad"
* Freddie Mercury
* dark humor
* beautiful things
* LGBTQ (FYI - I am the T, B and Q in that alphabet soup)
* cats (who doesn't like cat pictures?!)
* ocean - anything related to big water, really
ALSO: if you are a stamp collector, let me know - I have a lot of stamps which I save in a little box, but I'm not really a collector myself... I guess I save them to send to other people who do collect. But now my little box is full! I can't promise specific stamps, but if you don't mind random stamps from random places then I'm happy to share. Happy Postcrossing!
