I grew up in San Francisco, California and spent my summers living in Germany (Bavaria) with my Oma. I've been living in San Diego, California for the past 25 years, but have been a lifelong traveler. I’m a lecturer at a local University and my main research areas are cultural studies, women's studies, media and pop culture, and sociology.

Outside of work, I spend much of my time in the dance studio or outdoors hiking, kayaking, or enjoying the beach. I love zooming in on maps and exploring all the tiny corners of the world that I plan to see one day; as a big solo traveler, I’ve been known to grab a backpack and leave the country on a whim. Maybe you can show me your lovely town if I visit! I'm an avid reader and have quite a home library so feel free to share your own stories or favorite books and authors. Right now I’m really into horror novels. I share the Postcrossing experience with my teenage daughter, who loves receiving cards from all over the world.
