About Janet...

Hello, my name is Janet. I live in Detroit, Michigan. I am originally from Washington DC/Maryland.

I am married with an adult son. I have 2 cats. I love all animals.

My hobbies include reading, films, cooking, music, arts & crafts and learning new languages. I also play Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, so if you do, please let me know!

If you speak German, feel free to write the card in German. I enjoy translating. If you speak Mandarin, Turkish or Arabic feel free to write a line or two and the translation. But really, I welcome all other languages and scripts. I spent many years as a journalist and writer, so I am interested in news and learning about new cultures and real people.

I love cards with your country's or region's scenery, and animals, but I will be happy for any cards you care to share. I also love anything about anywhere in Asia, especially China. Favorite animals are lemurs, meerkats and birds. And of course cats.

I don't mind advertising cards that are in good shape and you can write on. My degrees are in marketing, so I am interested in ads from around the world. I have one card that was thin, but then the sender glued a sheet of blank heavy paper to the back and wrote on that. That's a great idea and much appreciated! Explaining what the ad is about or where it's from is helpful, so thanks in advance.

Handmade or illustrated cards, or your own photography, are also loved. Creativity, and sharing a piece of yourself, is what Postcrossing should be about.

I look forward to meeting new people.

Janet Vandenabeele

[please note: I am happy to send written cards in envelopes if that makes it easier for delivery in your country. I cannot send coins, however. They never seem to get delivered even when additional postage is added. thanks for understanding]
