About Julianne...

Having two degrees in English literature (my first from the humble state school, Rhode Island College), and my second from Brown, one of my two truest passions is English literature. The other is visual art, which was my first major. I like to work with graphite for portraits, and also dabble in graphic design. I am hopeless at painting, though.

I have many favorite books/literary works, but a few stand out: Lanark by Alasdair Gray, Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, Nayyirah Waheed’s poetry, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, and Titus Andronicus by Billy Shakes. I am a really big ol’ Shakespeare nerd 🧐 I also love sci fi, particularly dystopian speculative sci fi.

Right now I’m spinning Joji, yaeji, Glass Animals, Childish Gambino, Grimes, Run the Jewels, Danny Brown.

Some facts:
I lived in Japan as an exchange student when I was 15
I like dim sum A LOT
I love the beach but I hate the summer with the passion of a thousand fiery suns (get it?)
I was a junior archery champ
I do step aerobics in outfits that may or may not resemble 1985 fitness Barbie
I am a member of the Providence Democratic Socialists of America chapter, and a leftist activist 🌹
I have two children, ages 9 and 1
I am a writer and I dislike writing; it is a special kind of hell
I am body positive and adipositive
Green is nice
Flowers are nice
Bunnies and babies are nice
Zombies scare me more than literally anything, but I love The Walking Dead (???!)
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia pretty much sums up my humor, and I have a mom-style crush on Charlie Day
Like most Americans, I am a monoglot. I apologize.
I have a little Japanese left for speaking/listening, but my writing/reading is atrocious.

I see other people talk about their preferences even though we’re not supposed to?? I like breaking rules sometimes.

The postcards that would go on my wall (like, my actual wall) would feature:
Art things
Food things
Literary things
Ocean things
Vintage things
Handmade things (that are made with care & artistry)
Celestial things
Floral things
Of course things representing where you’re from!
Handwriting is nice!

No zombies plz

Yay postcards!

P.S. The white strips the USPS annoyingly sticks to cards are easily peeled off!
