About hedy_meets_world...

Hey world :),

Let me tell you sth about this cosy place I live in - SAMOBOR! It*s a small pictoresque town of great cultural and historical herritage, situated just 20km away from Croatia*s capital Zagreb. It has existed as a free royal town since 1242. according to a document of endowment by King Bela IV. Only 10 minutes walk from the city centre, there are still visible remains of Samobor Castle, fortress built in 13th century.

Samobor has 19,000 inhabitants or so. It is well known for it*s crystal cutting industry and Licitar making (on red background lavishly decorated gingerbread cookie, put on UNESCO*s list of world*s intagible cultural heritage) which are highly praized all over the world.

Local people are mostly engaged in handicrafts and tourism. Their cheerfulness and friendliness will completely take you over and make you come to visit again and again :) Many people come here for weekend strolls along Gradna Creek (habitat for trout and crayfish), hiking (a lots of nature parks, educational trails and mountain lodges to visit), spiritual tourism (Franciscan Monastery) or tasting exquisite local cuisine (famous cake called Kremšnita - cream pie, eaten warm; aperitif wine called Bermet or homemade garlic based sausage called Češnjovka). This year, the 185th Carnival will take place. Many poets and artists found inspiration in Samobor*s nature, people, spirit in general and made it the center of their expression. It*s just the kind of place that leaves a special "taste" and warmth in your heart :)

Me:

33, interested in crafts, especially pottery and ceramics, visiting museums, art exhibitions, music concerts, gardening, interior decoration, creative writing, souvenirs - small stuff that bring joy and beauty to my everyday life.
Really appreciate and cherish friendships.
Like surprises, goodspirited people and receiving snail mail!

Regarding postcards:

What would make me sincerely joyful is real, store-bought, colorful tourist postcard representing sth specific for your country/hometown - city views, buildings, monuments, people, crafts, nature, culture, tradition...or sth you consider is a "must to be seen" when coming to your country.
I*d be also glad if you could write sth about yourself you missed to write in your profile and what postcard sent is showing. Try to leave a mark of your soul on it, let the card have a story, make it "spiritually tangible" and alive! :) Nice stamps would make my day Christmas too ;))
