About Danielle...

Hi! My name is Danielle. I am a wildlife biologist living in a small town in Louisiana with my boyfriend and our 2 cats. At work, my main focus is an endangered bird called the Red-cockaded woodpecker, which lost most of its habitat in the 1800s-1900s as it was cleared for timber and agriculture. We help monitor the birds' population and install artificial cavities for them until they have enough habitat to support a self-sustaining population, which likely won't be for a while since the tree they prefer (Longleaf Pine) take a long time to mature.

I am not originally from Louisiana, so no cool Cajun accent unfortunately! I grew up in New Jersey, went to school in New Orleans (on the other side of Louisiana) and then lived in a bunch of different places doing seasonal wildlife work and working on my master's thesis (Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Ecuador, Arkansas, Australia, California, and Colorado). It was a lot of fun, but I am happy to have a real bed and a stable mailbox again for Postcrossing! I don't intend to live in Louisiana forever (I miss the mountains, which we don't have here!) but it is a nice place to live for now. It's nice having mild winters and not having to shovel snow!

I enjoy birdwatching, hiking, camping, wildlife photography, road trips, vegan cooking, video games, and of course postcard collecting! I also love traveling when I have the opportunity. My favorite country that I've visited is Costa Rica and I would love to return there someday!

My postcard preferences are:

-Typical tourist cards
-Map cards
-Scenic landscape views
-City/landmark views
-Corny jokes
-Surprises! These are just preferences, I'm happy to receive anything :)

If possible, I prefer cards that have some sort of label/writing on the front so I know what I'm looking at if I stick it on my wall. I also prefer them written and stamped, not in an envelope.

My only request is **NOT** to receive cards with meat, hunting, fishing, etc. I also would prefer not to receive Christmas cards.

If you need ideas for what to write, how about:

-What you did today
-What your biggest goal in life is
-A secret (!)
-Recommendations if I visit your country
-A question about me or the USA
-Your favorite vegan recipe
-An artist/song you've been listening to lately
-Anything you want!

I am interested in direct swaps! I have lots of cards from various US states plus some from Australia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Canada that I would be willing to trade. If you would like to trade, please send me a message with your address and be as specific as possible about what what you want (where from, what kind of card, if you want it blank in an envelope or written/stamped, etc). I will do my best to honor your request! If you haven't heard back from me about a direct swap, just message me again...sorry, sometimes I can be forgetful!

BTW, I do *NOT* support our current president and on behalf of the majority of Americans, I am so sorry. :( He is an international disgrace!
