About Elise...

Hi everyone,

I'm a Dutch 25-year old PhD student. My main study interest is language learning (and how we humans accomplish this remarkable feat). Besides studying, I very much enjoy reading, writing, cooking and baking. I'm a homely person and love nothing better than a cup of tea with a friend. My tea collection counts about 70 flavours at the moment. Me & my cats recently moved to the US from the Netherlands where I grew up.

Feel free to send me any card you wish, below are suggestions if you want some inspiration for what to send me.

Some things to write that I like reading about:
- since I'm into languages, I would love it if your message has some words in your native language, maybe a nice quote / saying / some wise words, with your translation into English :) also, if your native language is German or French I'd love it if you'd write your entire card in that language, as I'm always trying to brush up my skills in those languages. I guess my secret and unrealistic wish is to speak and understand all languages in the world - a more realistic version is just learning some bits and pieces of languages through postcards :)
- I'm a big fan of gratitude lists, each night before I go to bed I write down five things that I'm grateful for about that day. I'd be interested in reading a list of things you're grateful for at this moment!
- My biggest hobby is reading, so I'd be interested in knowing what your favourite book is / what book you are reading at the moment; or if you have a favourite poem, the name + author of that poem / your favourite line(s) from that poem.
- What's your favourite word in your own language? Mine is 'vlinder' (butterfly). This is a word I also find pretty in many other languages :)

Some ideas for cards that I like:
- drawings
- paintings
- cards with pretty colours.
- cards with books / bookshelves
- cards with tea or tea-related things
- vintage cards, especially pictures/paintings of women in lovely clothes
- cards made by local artists

A special request if you're from Poland: I'm learning Polish, so I would love it if you could write the entire card in Polish, I have a dictionary and will have lots of fun translating it!
