Hi! My husband George and I live in Allen Park, a suburb just outside Detroit, Michigan.

I work as a book editor and project manager at the state organization for continuing legal education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. George is a retired letter carrier.

I am an avid birder, and the Detroit region is a wonderful place to see birds, both resident and migrating, all year long. I also support bird conservation.

My other hobbies include reading, needlework, and bicycling with George. Each year we ride in the 30-mile Tour Detroit, an annual fundraiser for establishing bike lanes and greenways around the city.

Attractions around the Detroit area include the Detroit Institute of Arts and Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. We have many theaters, an opera company, and a world-class symphony orchestra. Detroit is renowned as a sports town, with our four professional league teams (hockey, baseball, football, and basketball) and the University of Michigan and Michigan State University teams also providing plenty to cheer for.

Despite what you may have heard about Detroit's financial and other problems, the city is growing and moving ahead with hope and excitement, and new businesses and nonprofits are flocking downtown and city services are being upgraded and secured. Detroit is a very welcoming place, and we hope you will come for a visit soon and see for yourself the wonderful things the city offers!
