I live in Portland, Oregon, natural wonderland, outpost of American freethinkers and idealists. I consider myself more Oregonian than I do American -- the more I travel my own country, the more I know that. I was just in LA and it affirmed that.

I work in Social Work, aiding Developmentally Disabled adults. My role is program management, creating systems and trainings, working in a small political role. My specialty is creating systems that join very different agencies, providing liason.

When I'm at home, I have a lot of other interests:

- I am a writer and have been my whole life. I've been working hard at honing my craft, getting good at story telling, styles, etc.. This is my true career objective. I do not quite consider it a hobby -- it's a lifestyle, even the procrastination (which I'm doing right now).

- I like gardening a lot. I took this up from my parents who garden most of their veggies. The summers here are perfect, not too hot or cool. We end up with bushels of tomatoes, herbs, peppers, squash and a sundry other things. Gardening offers the tangible, hands on gratification that sometimes is missing for a writer.

- On the weekends, I brew a lot of my own beer. I don't quite know where that came from, but I enjoy drinking it a lot, and therefore, I enjoy producing it.

- I like films, books and music in extreme amounts. I could exhaust this whole text box with artists I adore, but to be concise: ee cummings, Walt Whitman, Wu Ming, The Smiths, any films by Bergman, Polanski, Scorcese, Coppolla, Stone, books by Hemmingway, Bolano, Pynchon, etc... Sigur Ros, Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, etc... I could go on.

- Getting married in late May, 2009. Wonderful woman who finishes the rough sides of me.

- Sports: I love the Portland Trailblazers, baseball (in which I consider myself something of a historian) football, in the playoffs, hockey is fabulous. Some people call me a junkie for the stuff. I don't disagree.

- Two cats (Iggy and Araby) and a dog, Pup, who is sleeping nearby.
