About Caele...

Hi!

I'm an Aussie girl now living in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA with my husband and two busy kids. I love to travel and explore new cultures, museums, arts and crafts. I love my little garden, I like to knit, crochet and sew, and I like anything tea. As a family we love hiking in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, about 2 hours from us here in Charlotte. They remind me so much of the Blue Mountains near Sydney, my home town. My husband and I especially love to run international marathons. Our bucket list includes Istanbul, Marrakech, Jerusalem, Dublin, Oslo, Moscow, Berlin, Tokyo and Cape Town - to name just a few.

I would love to see postcards of your home town or country, maybe a famous building, or beautiful scene, or a traditional craft or item that is significant to you and to where you are from. What is your favourite past time or hobby? Do you write poetry? I love a good haiku. Are you happily married? What is your secret to a happy marriage? I love quirky postcards :)

Looking forward to seeing your postcard in my mailbox!

Caele

NB: This is a totally odd, crazy, off-the-wall request you really don't have to pay any attention to ...
One of the reasons I wanted to try PostCrossing was in response to the recent US presidential election. The anger and nastiness it has engendered has shocked me; Friends aren't speaking to one another, families skipped celebrating holidays together. It is so sad. But, I truly believe that despite our differences we are all much more alike than not. And so, the idea of exchanging postcards with strangers from all over the world, getting a glimpse into your life and your experience, is very appealing. Exchanging postcards with people I've never met is illustrative of our shared humanity.

So, to that end, I saw where one awesome PostCrosser had requested squares of fabric from her PC-matches so that she might sew the fabric into a PostCrossing quilt. Such an incredible idea, right? The blending of disparate elements to create an art piece of beauty. I love it! And I just have to try it.

So, to those who might entertain such flights of fancy, would you please send me a square of fabric for use in my 'We Are The World Quilt'? I know it is a crazy idea .. but I'm so excited to see what happens! And I'd be forever grateful.

Many thanks,
C
