My name is Candis and I live in the beautiful sunshine state of Florida.
I've had brain surgery in 2003 and been mostly seizure free since.
I love to write and have hypergraphia, which is closely related to Epilepsy. The seizures may be gone, but the love for writing is living and thriving in my heart.
I work as a janitor at a local Anytime FItness and a Chili's restaurant.
I color many postcards. I enjoy Millie Marotta and Johanna Basford's work.
I still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up and I'm 32.
Let's face it, I don't want to grow up. It ain't like I'll ever get kicked out. Plus, I am lucky to have parents with a lot of money.
My top pick for cards is blank Maximum ones because here in Tampa I can trade one of that kind of card for 5 blank cards from a collector. So those are of value to me.
Update: I accumulated 78 Maxis and got 390 cards in mid-October 2021 @ our Tampa Postcard club. Just to put it in perspective.
Washi taped in some way
Postcard fair cards
Animals of all sorts, but dogs are the best
Nonfiction writings on the front of back
Galaxy like images, but not sci fi since it is hella cheesy
But it's okay if you send something else, I'm not gonna be upset if you don't have what I mentioned.
Besides that, I ain't picky about the gifts I receive from strangers.
I'm grateful anyone is taking time to write to me. We all may be strangers but appreciating writing with our hands (by writing or coloring cards) instead of the computer has always been an art I love the most. It's like there's more brain connection in holding a pen than typing or staring at a cell phone.
Please tell me some history of your life or home or genealogy. I'll start with mine. I'm from the Tampa area of Florida. My family has been in this country for 400 years. My home state is where the Americas were discovered. Florida was originally pronounced, "la floor ee dah," but somewhere since 1492, we got to saying, "floor duh," It means "land of the flowers," in Spanish. Spain Spanish, not Hispanic Spanish. Every time I mentioned that to a Hispanic, they're like, "I didn't know that," well, yeah Florida was owned by Spain once.
Even if you come from a country that's supposedly an enemy (like the middle East), it doesn't matter. You're an individual worth hearing from. Just because politicians don't get along doesn't mean people shouldn't get along. I even mean that politically. As in, I truly do not care if you are a Republican and I'm a Democrat. Or if you're even a Communist or Socialist. It doesn't matter.
If you want to send me cards in an envelope, I would appreciate that because then I get bonus cards that I can use for others later.
One more thing for the USA citizens: The Citizens Stamp Committee in our national capital has responded to our letters requesting a Postcrossing stamp. They recently responded in letters to writers and we will not get a Postcrossing stamp:-( Try again in 2022
