About Petra...
I am a Director of an environmental consultancy which I run with my friend Andrew. My interests are in Environmental Law and Ethics, as well as animal Welfare. I am on the Longleat Ethics Committee, a safari park in Somerset. I am a member of the Imaginals, a group of philosophers concerned with alterative ways of thinking about the world. I am a member of the newly launched Women's Equality Party. I am concerned with speaking out for things and beings who traditionally have no voice of their own.
I live on the outskirts of Manchester in the North of England, but have lived in Somerset and in Scotland. Manchester is a typical northern city with a thriving cultural identity and lots going on. It is home to Manchester United Football Club, but I am not a football fan.
I live with my two cats Beren and Calypso whom I adore. I am thinking about getting chickens again, even though it might annoy the neighbours. I try to grow some of my own food but it's hard where I live as it's suburban and the soil is bad.
I believe in renewable energy and the circular economy, and sustainability.
I am a bit of a healthy food nut, but not an exercise nut.
I Love reading, anything from heavy philosophy to Terry Pratchett. I like watching films, especially action films (my guilty secret), and anything historical. I love history too and visit lots of historic sites whenever I can. I was a professional musician and singer songwriter but not any more. Music is strictly for pleasure now.
Send me as many postcards as you like, any kind, handmade or the back of a cereal packet is fine by me. Tell me a bit about yourself, or the card you have sent.
Petra.
