About Tom...

I live in Norman, Oklahoma, a city of about 100,000 south of Oklahoma City. It is the third largest city in the state and site of the University of Oklahoma. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I'm a retired father of three children, and I have two grandchildren. Historian and writer. I still do a lot of historical writing, research, and editing, and I write poetry, too. Activities I enjoy: reading, playing chess, and fooling around with baseball statistics. I love my wife Susan, books, music of all kinds, the Texas Rangers baseball team, good food and wine, my Boston terrier Prozac, and keeping up with my blog.

Any kind of neat stamps if you can send them would be great. I like postcards that tell me something about your country, city, or town. Anything about history is fine. Anything unusual, offbeat, or beautiful. Black and white or vintage cards and cards with art or birds or food are great. Homemade cards are OK. If you're sending from the US, Japan, Latin America, anything connected with baseball would be great.

Please do not send advertising or free postcards. And I don't like "touristy" cards or cards with multiple views much either.

The best part, though, is just getting to meet nice people from all over the world. Tell me something about yourself. Send me a quotation or two. If you want to write something in your native tongue with translation, that would be cool.

Work and pray for peace in the world.

IF YOU RECEIVE A POSTCARD FROM ME:
The U.S. Post Office may put a long, narrow sticker across the bottom of the postcard. If it covers the image or my message, just peel it off; it removes easily.
