About Amy...
Hello! I'm Amy. It's good to meet you!
I'm a historian (I "do" intellectual history, the history of ideas), and my primary fields are Science Fiction/Fantasy studies, the Gothic, and Indigenous American studies. I live with my husband in the Appalachian Mountain highlands of Virginia in the United States. I'm a lover of books and dogs and history, a vegetarian, and a nerd.
I enjoy hearing from Postcrossers around the world and learning about where you live. What are you reading? Who are your favorite authors, and/or what are your favorite books? Does your town or region have any scary legends or ghost stories you might share with me? Do you have a favorite quote, song lyric, or poem that you would share with me?
I like receiving all postcards, so whatever you choose to send, I'm sure I'll be delighted by it! Thanks in advance!
As for my special favorites and subjects I collect, I love postcards that include images of...
-- Halloween (my favorite holiday), El Día de los Muertos, and similar holidays (any time of year!),
-- any artwork with skulls or skeletons,
-- Star Wars or Star Trek (I collect all things Star Wars and Star Trek, old and new versions, from all over the world),
-- anything related to Buddhism or Taoism,
-- the Gothic (I love cemeteries and graveyards, gargoyles, abandoned buildings, ruins, and other atmospheric places),
-- anything related to "Dark Academia" literature, aesthetics, or fashion,
-- libraries,
-- bats (in photos, artwork, sculpture, anything!),
-- anything with a bookmark,
-- science fiction of any kind (literature, television, film, etc., including Doctor Who, etc.),
-- space, space exploration, the stars and planets,
-- Sherlock Holmes in any of his forms, such as the original Arthur Conan Doyle books and the BBC's Sherlock television series,
-- fantasy (literature, television, film, etc. including The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, etc.),
-- books (authors, book covers, books, libraries and bookstores, people with books, people reading, and anything related to what you like to read),
-- your local or regional history, and history in general (including any or vintage and historic photos, ads, artwork, etc.),
-- dogs of all breeds (and Boston terriers in particular), and
-- coffee, tea, and wine.
Thank you. I hope you have a wonderful day. Happy Postcrossing!
