I like all manner of postcards. Interesting birds or carnivorous plants go a long way with me, as do cards of quirky festivals. I like interesting graffiti, too, especially if there's something native to your location. Banksy is a big hit. Fine art and black and white photography are greatly appreciated.

If you can't think of anything to write, send your favorite recipe, or make mention of whatever you happen to be reading at the moment. I'm also not opposed to reading a secret you might be keeping, so long as you can promise I won't have to testify under oath in a faraway courthouse to something horrible you've done.

I also share all the postcards I receive with my young son and he loves Harry Potter, Star Wars, cartoons, super-heroes, comic books, carnivorous plants, puffins, foxes, siamese cats, outer space (on the off chance you have a good view of outer space from your part of the world ... or if you're from outer space?), cowboys and animals of all stripes.

Surprises are welcome, too, and everything is greatly appreciated.
