My screen name is in honor of my one-eared rescue cat, Van Gogh. I also have a second rescue cat and a husband of 20 years. Now that we have entered our 50s, people have finally stopped asking us if we will change our minds and have children.

Professionally, I am a wanderer. I've tallied up 5 college degrees, but I can't decide between nonprofit community work, creative writing, and therapeutic counseling. So I do a little bit of all of them.

My hobbies include DIY renovation of our century-old house, knitting, and reading. I strive for one hour per day of outdoor recreation, whether it is walking, yoga, kayaking, or even yard work.

I have a passion for travel and I've been to 20 countries and about half of the states in the U.S. so far. I usually rent an apartment at a destination for 1 to 2 weeks, so that I can stay in one place long enough to enjoy its landscape, architecture, food, and culture beyond the tourist highlights.

I am not picky about the postcard I receive. Of course I would enjoy anything that shows where you live, considering my love of travel. I would get a kick out of a postcard cut from the most interesting spot on your non-English cracker, cookies, or whatever box. If you recently went on a special date, tape your receipt to a cardstock and tell me what made it special.

WHAT MOST INTERESTS ME is the back of the card where I get to learn a little something about your life "out there." I am amazed by how universal the human condition is, yet how unique we each are due to our experiences and geography.
