About Tom...

Updated 19th of January, 2024

I'm a Youth Services Librarian for Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District in Winnetka, Illinois USA. Working at a library is much fun and engaging!

Here's our promotional video for Summer Reading last year and I'm in it. Laugh as much as you want.

When I'm not working I'm usually....

Performing - I belong to a comedy troupe, Playmakers Laboratory. Kids write it, adults perform it, humans love it. (website:

Journaling - Been chronicling my history for over 35 years.

Comic Books - Collecting for almost 40 years - X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Birds of Prey, and Nightwing are some of the over 25 titles I get. Every night before I sleep I post about the comic book that I read. #comicbeforebed Check out my instagram profile to see what I've been reading.

Reading - I generally read fiction that slants towards fantasy and science-fiction, juvenile through adult.

What do I recommend?

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake - young adult fantasy
The Expanse series by James S. A. Corey - adult sci-fi
Gideon the Ninth by Tasmyn Muir - adult fantasy and sci-fi
Eye of Isis series by Dana Stabenow - adult historical fiction
East of West from Image Comics - adult fantasy and sci-fi
The Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka - adult fantasy
Stitches: A Memoir by David Small - adult graphic novel
Blood on the Tracks by Shuzo Oshimi - adult horror manga

Current TV -
Finished up What If...?? and now watching Percy Jackson on Disney+
Finally watching Adventure Time and Doctor Who on MAX

Video Games
Nintendo Switch: Fae Farm, Diablo 3, Overcooked 1 and 2, Wingspan, Mario Party and Kart, Final Fantasy VII, Unpacking
XBox One: Starfield and Diablo 4

Board/Card games: The Crew, 7 Wonders, Catan, Splendor, Moonrakers, Wingspan, Dragonwood. Machi Koro, Dominion, Secret Cities, Dungeons and Dragons

I live on the north side of Chicago in a neighborhood called Rogers Park. Lake Michigan isn't far so I enjoy walking by it in all the seasons.

I'm open to ALL postcards, especially the ones you think people don't like. But if you need some inspiration - anything with sci-fi, fantasy, heroes, mythology, surrealism, libraries, and literature. I'm fine with cards in envelopes too.

Write to me about
- a book that you want to recommend
- a goal to achieve
- a fear that you conquered
- a game I should be playing
- if you could have a superpower which one would you have
- a food/meal that you enjoy having repeatedly
- a secret you want to share (and yes technically I know it's no longer a secret since I know)
- anything that comes to mind

I'm also open to ALL stickers and washi tape, however you want to decorate the postcard.

Thank you for being amazing!
