Ahoj! (Hello)

My name is Matěj or Mates (in English Matthew). I am a young student with many hobbies. I live in my hometown Olomouc. It is an old and beautiful Central European city. I love it, I study in it and I try to promote it as much as possible in my own country and in the world, because I think it definitely deserves it! Unfortunately, Czechs tend to underestimate themselves and their country, which I am trying to change, because my country (Czech Republic) is beautiful, interesting and has a huge potential.

Even though I'm still studying at the local university, I already live with my long-time girlfriend in an apartment in one of the typical (Eastern) European pannelack of flats. Like most of these buildings in our country, but it has already been modernized as well as most of its housing estate. We live here with our little fish and a bunch of books and flowers.

Besides all that, I have good friends in my city and when I'm not doing something with my girlfriend, I like to go with them for our great Czech beer downtown. I go on a hike or a trip to countryside and mountains, or I go on various sports trips, mainly by bike.

Apart from all that, I love finding out about all sorts of things. From Architecture, history or art, through the latest scientific and technical developments to topics from local and world politics to public events.

Finally, I would like to write postcard topics that make me the most happy. I know that Postcrossig says to send whatever postcards you want and of course you can, but if you would like to send a postcard that would make me the most happy, here are the topics:

- architecture (modern, old, urban or rural)
- history (old postcards of your homes or countries, famous events of your country or old postcards of important personalities of your country)
- art (I like impressionism, landscape painting, artistic photography, surrealism, independent art of the 20th century, art nouveau and classical art of the 20th century, symbolism, realism and romanticism, mannerism and the Renaissance, oriental or folklore art)
- nature and landscape (I adore mountains and forests, rocks and cliffs, but also valleys and plains)
