About Thayara...
I'm Thayara de Lima, 32-year-old historian, PhD in anti-racist education. I am married and have a 13 year old daughter.
I live in Rio de Janeiro, a city that tends to be very informal. It's a big city, built between the sea and the mountains, a mix of beauty and chaos. It's sunny all year round, so I love meeting my friends and having a "caipirinha" (A typical drink of Rio de Janeiro with lemon, ice, sugar and "cachaça") on the sidewalk, I love the "rodas de samba" in the city center, I love carnival and the cultural life that pulsates in Rio de Janeiro.
I would like to know what you love about your city.
Last year I read a lot of literature produced by black women: bell hooks, Octavia Butler, Chimamanda Adichie. I am very interested in Afrofuturist texts and authors.
What have you been reading, watching or listening to?
Send me the postcard that you think is coolest! Tell me a story about yourself, your city, your family. About what you did to survive the quarantine!
I hope 2022 is better for all of us!
