About Risa...

***(Sabine from Meersburg- Can you send me the Postcard #?***

I have a perfect daily life: my bicycles are worth more than my car, my music collection far exceeds my furniture collection, and my cat, so far, tolerates me. I love those tiny, classic French bars full of polished glassware and Pernod, so I built one in my house, espresso machine and all. I love vintage & contemporary cycling, surfing, and trekking/tramping/wandering images and lore. I am fascinated by memory and its faults. I am a flaneur at heart; I love to walk at night in the middle of crowds of people out for the evening, listening to books or language lessons on my iPod. I love Bakeries, Coffee, coffee houses, local delicacies, local wines, cocktails native to any region or location, though I tend to not eat wildly experimental fare at table. I try to use old and interesting US postage on postcards and letters when I can. I bought ALL of the airmail paper from my local post office. Until I was 35, i wrote on a typewriter. I am embarking on curating my own life. I guess it's a way to achieve some kind of perspective at this half-way mark. I am also interested in letter boxing, maps, self-made cartographies- imagined or otherwise, vintage advertisements and ephemera from any country, any time period, Klezmorim, Mail art, ATC's technologies of daily life, feminism, wheat pasting, stencils, Holga & Lomo photographs, perfect notebooks and perfect pens, Moleskines, hand-writing methods, typography, old typewriters (cursive and four language ones I find especially thrilling), rubber stamps, date stamps, Pullman daters, interesting postage stamps, graffiti, dip pens and quills, wood cuts, anarchism, found lists, photos, receipts, logs, etc. and anything having to do with a moment in time captured by technology (like a camera) and a human hand (a note written on the back). If you share a similar interest; let me know! Share some of your local/favorite food and drinks with me! I would love to see what it looks like where you live and learn something about you and your daily life or a description of a great day or dinner. Architecture and landscapes of your city are especially welcome! Hand drawn maps of any kind, imagined or real, are wonderful. Capture a moment, trace your steps, invite me along. I can read German, French, and Italian better than I can write so if you are inclined, write me in those OR teach me some Japanese! LGBT Cards Extra Welcome!
