Hello Postcrossing Friends,
My name is Rosie. My user name refers to a character I played in a school production. My avatar is Horton from Dr. Seuss. I live on a narrow strip of sand on the Atlantic Ocean (Outer Banks/Barrier Island) in North Carolina, USA. We are host to some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Dolphins, whales, sharks, sea turtles, plus many types of birds can be seen here. We are known for the wild mustang horses that arrived 500 years ago from a shipwreck and live free to roam the island. They go swimming in the surf to cool off just like myself. I enjoy building sand castles and sculptures, which I decorate with shells, sea glass, drift wood, kelp and fulgurite (stone made by lightning strike)- then the high tide washes them away. Coastal winds here are great for flying kites - each year hundreds come for a festival to fly and compete in kite games. We have a historic operating lighthouse (Currituck). You can climb to the top and see for miles. A few hurricanes have tried to blow us away but most days are pleasant. I hope all is fine and fair where you call home.
