Hi everyone!

As an older woman, I love how many different lives I've gotten to have. I've been a schoolteacher, even starting my own alternative school. I've done some writing, had a typesetting business, owned a seafood restaurant and, most recently, am an acupuncturist. This last career is probably my favorite and, who knows?, I may still be doing it when I'm ninety.

At home, the garden is my favorite place. I love creating compost and nurturing my plants. Lately, I've been focusing less on annual vegetables and more on growing berries. Outwitting the many deer, birds, woodchucks, foxes and raccoons that live on my land is always a challenge, especially since I don't want to cause them any harm. I heat my home with wood, which brings exercise and enjoyment at every step of the process.

As you might guess, I'm passionate about the environment. I love being in nature and doing what I can to protect her. You might also think that I live way out in the country, but on that count you'd be wrong. I live in a very suburban area, about 50 miles east of New York City. However, I happen to be lucky enough to live near a small nature preserve.

Living on Long Island, water is everywhere. The ocean is a 20 minute drive from my home and a huge sound is a 5 minute walk. There are numerous bays, harbors and rivers that I like to kayak in.
