Hi! My name is Kiernan and I live in Gainesville, Florida. Before moving to Gainesville, I lived in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Kelleys Island, Ohio - a very small resort island in Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes. I was born in Royal Oak, Michigan (near Detroit) and grew up in Sylvania, Ohio (near Toledo).

Gainesville is a small, progressive city in the middle of rural North Central Florida. It’s best known for the University of Florida, which is the city’s largest employer, and pretty much the only reason that Gainesville isn’t just another small rural town. The University’s football team, the Gators, are named after the alligators that live everywhere in Florida and the southeastern United States. The team plays in a stadium called The Swamp - a fitting term, since the weather here is not just hot, but also extremely humid for much of the year. (Sometimes I really miss the dry clear sunshine of California!) Northern Florida has unusually beautiful trees and lots of freshwater springs where people go swimming and cave diving.

My girlfriend was born in Panama and grew up in Florida. From Gainesville, we travel around Florida as much as we can - to Orlando, Tampa, Miami, St. Augustine, beaches and state parks, and other little places in between. I just started a new job at the University, and I’m looking forward to exploring more of Florida, the Caribbean, and Central America. Eventually, I’d like to relocate to a bigger city and transition to a creative career in film/video/media production, travel, graphic design, maybe music... or hopefully some combination of the things that interest me.

Over the past few months, I’ve memorized the name, location, and flag of every country in the world. Outside of the contiguous United States, I’ve visited:
