About Katy...

I want you to know, dear Postcrossing friend whom I have never met, that I have cherished every single postcard I have received. You took (or are taking) the time to select a card for me, and write something on it, and spend postage to send it to me, and for that, I thank you very sincerely! There's something so lovely about this kind of sharing and fellowship that is charming and heartwarming. I do a little happy dance when I find postcards in my mailbox and then pour over my card soaking in all the wonderfulness front and back.

I will admit to adding in an extra happy little hip-wiggle when I receive cards that have pictures of food, recipes, cooking vessels, beautiful tables, etc. However, I'm sure the card you want to send me is going to be something I've never seen before and will absolutely love. Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.

A bit about me:

I'm 50, I'm married with teenaged kids and two pups, I live in south Texas, I work as a legal assistant.

I love cooking (my main hobby), reading (I love sci-fi/fantasy, historical fiction, mystery/thrillers, and gorgeous prose - my favorite writer of all time is William Gibson who wrote Neuromancer), gaming, watching sports (I'm so proud of the Astros for winning the 2017 World Series, and my favorite football team is the Houston Texans), studying (I love to learn), writing (one of the top three things I'm best at), music (all of it, but mostly metal), movies (Star Wars, Harry Potter, LotR, anything superhero related), my pets (two dogs - Luna & Phoebe), my family (I have a husband, son, and a step daughter and son who visit in the summer), and the Oxford comma.

Cooking is really my passion and I'd love to hear about what you love to eat, or cook! I'm always especially interested in what people in other countries eat, how they cook, how they shop, what comfort foods they enjoy, and what their impressions are of American cuisine! Share away. What is your favorite restaurant? What's your favorite dish there? What do you normally eat for breakfast? What's your favorite holiday meal? Is there any dish particular to American cuisine that you especially love... or hate?

Because of my love of sci-fi and fantasy, I am a big fan of dragons and have been collecting dragon figures, pictures, and other art for many years. My favorite dragon is Smaug from The Hobbit. I love him because he was so clever, and capable of reason, but also very dangerous and unpredictable.
