I'm a British born Chinese girl, originally from the county of Essex (and with the accent that comes with that territory!) and now living in lovely Nottingham. This means that, thanks to the balance of nature and nurture, my English reserve and decorum is punctuated with displays of either overexcitement or profanity thanks to my Hong Kong father.
When I was 21 a supposed authority figure told me that in order to do well in future I needed to grow up; at that point I made a decision not to. This resulted in me becoming a scientist geek who plays video games, reads graphic novels, and tries to see the wonder in everything. After all, science is magic with explanations.
The two greatest passions/ addictions in my life are music and comedy. I'm constantly listening to music, whether it's metal or hip-hop, classical or pop. Whether it makes me want to dance or cry or sing along, it’s all good. I’d pay money to see a stand-up comedian over a live music gig any day though. Well, you’ve got to laugh, haven’t you? So if I can’t see the wonder in it, I’ll try and find the humour.
Thanks to my job I’ve managed to travel a little bit but there’s still so much world out there, and postcards from near and far would send me giddy with excitement.
