Make sure post card says USA. I live in Cuba, but my mail goes through the USA military mail system. A card addressed to Cuba will not make it to me.

I am a contractor that live in Guantanamo Bay. It is not like the press portrays. The base has been around since 1898 and use to be a supply/coaling stop for naval ships. Its main purpose now is to run drug interference and patrol the Caribbean.

I am a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst. I collect and maintain all the spatial data on base. So roads, buildings, piers,waterlines etc. I use them to make maps and do analysis. For example, I can tell who will be affected by a water main outage or where you can put in a shooting range.

GTMO is like small town America circa 1955. There is one store for all shopping needs, a bowling alley, and an outdoor movie theater. Everyone knows everyone. People are constantly having pot luck dinners and block parties. The biggest hobbies are scuba diving, boating and fishing.

Our one store is the size of a regular grocery store (not the super sized kind) but sells everything from automotive supplies, health & beauty, clothes, electronics and food. As a result, there is rarely a choice. There is one brand. You can find all your basic needs, but nothing fancy or specialty.

Residents of the base never see the prison. It is beyond a secured area. What I can tell you is that the military guards are treated worse than the prisoners.

I am an active scuba diver( currently Rescue Certified). I also hike, paint and am trying to learn to run. I am signed up for a run at Disney so am training. I am a major Disney Fan. I have a season pass even though I live in Cuba.

I also love to travel all over the world. I have been to 34 countries and 36 US states. I am from Richmond, Virginia.

I just want to get mail. Most weeks nothing shows up in my mail box. (We only get mail twice a week so it may take a while for me to register your card.) I make no demands for types of cards. They will all be posted on my cubicle wall.

However, I love map/globe post cards because that is what I do for a living and I am passionate about all things Disney.
