About Benjamin...

Greetings from Kentucky! In my adult life, I have relocated 9 times, and have lived in 7 different US states. We have lived here for 5 years.

I've traveled some here in the United States, but my international travel has been limited. I've been to Reynosa TM over 30 years ago, and was last to Niagara Falls ON 20 years ago. I've never really lost sight of the United States. I dream of visiting Australia, Ireland, Scotland, and Norway, but have pretty much come to the conclusion that I will probably never get to go to any of these places.

I have worked quality control in the food industry full-time since 1997. I have worked in hog slaughter, turkey slaughter, RTE pork, bacon, canned meat, RTC potatoes, dry pet food, liquid and dried eggs, and raw vacuum-packaged pre-portioned beef. My current employer makes a popular regional brand of RTE sausages and bacon.

I am of Irish extraction, and would very much appreciate postcards celebrating Ireland, or St. Patrick's Day, to brighten my office space.

My interests are probably similar to many middle-aged American men. I enjoy the following:
-Collector automobiles. We own a 1946 Plymouth that I have had for 35 years.
-Music. My favourite musicians are: Kamelot, Rush, Joe Satriani, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My wife and I have seen TSO live in concert 16x.
-American Gridiron Football. I grew up in Minnesota and cheer for the Minnesota Vikings, but I also closely follow the New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs.
-Tomatoes. I hate to call what I do gardening because the only thing I raise is tomatoes. My wife convinced me soon after we got married that it might be nice to have a few tomato plants behind the garage for some BLTs. I have now been growing tomatoes for almost 20 years. I learn something new every year. I grew 20 different tomato plants in our back yard this past season. I grow predominately heirloom varieties and am especially fond of Brandywine and Mortgage Lifter. I try out new tomato varieties every year and have developed a fondness for yellow tomato varieties simply because of how they look.
-Movies. While I have been the "resident expert" regarding all things Star Wars at previous employers, I also enjoy the movies adapted from JRR Tolkien's Hobbit and LOTR books. My copies of the Back to the Future movies see a lot of use at my house. I also enjoy Westerns, in particular, John Wayne.
-We have been members of the Sons of Norway for three years. While my wife has no Nordic ancestry, my grandfather was 100% Norwegian. I am trying to raise our two small boys to appreciate their heritage in an area historically German.

As this is probably more information than anyone might want to know about a perfect stranger, I will now close this off.
