About CKBVN...

December 23, 2013

Hello, New Friends!

What you are reading right now is not just one person writing to you; we are two people! We are a duo - a mother and daughter team from Olathe, Kansas - a suburb of the greater Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area. We know this Postcrossing exchange will be really fun! We are very excited to write and receive postcards…to learn about our neighbors who live a few miles or a few hundred miles away from us!

If you ever think about coming to the United States of America [if you are not already living here or have been to these places], here are some great monuments to explore!
. Statue of Liberty in New York
. Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
. Performer Elvis Presley’s home (called “Graceland”) in Memphis, Tennessee
. Washington Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Here’s a little information about us and what we like doing together.
- Watching police or crime television shows
- Getting our fingernails and toenails painted/decorated
- Watching a variety of movies – lots of movies!
- Organizing
- Hanging out with our family
- Travel and sightseeing
- Cooking and baking
- Crafts
- Writing
- Reading
- Philanthropy (helping others)
- Seasonal activities (4 seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter)
- Cultural arts: dance, art, music, drama, etc.
- Attending lectures and exhibits
- Eating out at new, different restaurants
- Listening to music - all kinds!
- Exploring on the Internet for ideas (We love www.Pinterest.com! What do you like?)
- Photography (Please send us photos of your culture!)
- We are also true pet lovers! We have dogs, cats, rabbits and turtles!

Sincerely,
Your New Friends

NOTE: Please put the date, your city/state/country and your current weather conditions on your postcard. It's fun to compare our location with your location! Fun facts about anything important to YOU will be great for US to read! Postcards with any design, topic, location, community or event will be appreciated. We hope ALL postcards sent to us will be "family friendly" and appropriate for children under the age of 18. We don't want to put too many restrictions or preferences on our profile, because we want to see what creative and meaningful postcards you have to share with us! All types of correspondence (including handmade) will be eagerly welcomed and appreciated! If you speak a language other than English, we would love it if you would also include a short message or phrase in that language. If you speak English, but also have a fun phrase to share from your corner of the world, then by all means sent it our way via your postcard/note. The whole point of our participation in Postcrossing is to learn about our big world and the diverse group of people who inhabit it. The more we learn about your lives and your locations, the more fun it will be! We are looking forward to receiving mail from a wide variety of new friends from around the world, but will be especially delighted to hear from other mothers and daughters.
