I am a professor of Communication Studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois (USA). I specialize in public communication about environmental issues, with a particular focus on art-based environmental advocacy. I am an eclectic artist of many and mixed media. I am an outdoor enthusiast.

I am fortunate to live in a hidden gem in the US, the hilly countryside and forests of Southern Illinois. I like to garden (mostly flowers), hike, backpack, and do plein air painting and field illustrations.

I don’t have any requests or restrictions on what you send me. This service is all about meeting people and seeing what they choose to share with me. If you are proud of your kids, I am happy to see them. Love your town? Show me! Like making art? So do I! I look forward to a surprise from you in my mailbox.

I’ve played around with mail art for many years. I was an early fan of Fluxus. I might send out hand crafted art cards. I may also use a service that allows me to convert digital graphics into snailmail cards and send those. A card from me might be drawings or paintings or collage or my own photographs. I probably won’t send a card that I bought, though.

As an experienced mail artist, I won’t send a postcard in an envelope. The mail art aesthetic, for me, should include the artifacts of the postal service, including any damage that might occur in transit. I will send cards made out of appropriate materials meant to survive delivery, but I can’t guarantee they won’t get a bit scuffed or stamped over.
